Tonsils, Adenoids, and getting Tubes

This girl is a trooper. I knew she would be fine and had confidence in the surgery. I was just worried about what her reaction would be post-op. She has done really well.

Here are pictures of when we first went back,

her breathing treatment (she had a rough cough, so they did this before anesthesia)

and eating her popsicle after the surgery.

She came out of anesthesia very calmly. In fact, she kept dozing off with the popsicle in her hand. She didn't like the i.v. being in her hand... but that was the extent of her irritation.

Jeff and I both talked to her a lot about what to expect, read books about tonsils and going to the hospital, and just did everything we could think of to get her prepared. I think that helped a lot... but her naturally calm demeanor definitely helped as well.

Dance Class

In the fall, Jules started going to dance class on Saturday mornings. She LOVES it and looks forward to it every week. Right before Christmas they did a little dance to Frosty the Snowman. These are pictures that I took with my phone.

Surgery

So... Jules constantly has fluid on her ears, runs ear infections... takes several allergy medications daily.

We were referred to an ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat doctor) and had the appointment yesterday. Long story short, Jules is having surgery on the 21st. Taking her adenoids and tonsils out... and putting in tubes.

Wowee wow. I'm a little overwhelmed. I am completely confident that she will be fine and much improved actually (sleep and eat better, etc)... but it makes me nervous! Anyway... I'm sure it will be great in the end.
