Stuff

Last week was adventurous (one year old adventurous, that is). Jules and I went to the Roanoke pool on my day off. She actually walked up a few of the stairs to go down the big slide there. Uh, uh... no go. Sorry chickie! But she had fun anyway. I couldn't take too many pictures because I was the only adult and she never sits still. Shockingly, and probably because we had just come from a very hot playground with no shade, she kept her hat on the whole time... only had to convince her a couple of times.

Daddy got a new mini laptop and here they are checking it out.

Then dinner afterward. Cheese! She's cheesey, alright!

Hanging with the Fellas!

We had Jett and Phoenix over again tonight. We had fun watching My Friends Tigger & Pooh, had dinner and then went for some fun in the wagon.

Jett was chasing Jeff & the wagon.

After the wagon ride, everybody ran around the yard for a while. Jeff got to give all three a bath while I set up the pack n play. I'm quite impressed!

Jules gets to hang with these two guys two or three times a week right now and they seem to be getting really close. (Jules is definitely thriving.) Jett (the older boy) and her were having belly laughs that nobody else understood during the wagon ride. Apparently, he's quite the comedian.

Yikes

What do we do when we don't have a cell phone? Mine went out last night. Jeff graciously took it to the store to see about getting it fixed last night, and it's unfixable. It just changed to a white screen as I was about to text message him and wouldn't go back. Luckily, I can get a cheap replacement until our contract allows us the discounted phones. I have to go get it this morning... but hate being home alone with Jules and no phone!

Splashin' Away!

Jules and I were supposed to meet friends at the Bedford Splash park on Tuesday, but since it poured rain, we postponed. I couldn't wait to have some fun in the sun, so I invited a group to go today. Aunt Meredy and Grammy went with Jules and me to the Splash Park and we had a blast!
Jules was fearless. She wanted to go down the big whirlpool activity that they have, but she had to settle for the slides in the toddler pool and the mid-sized pool. It was great that Grammy and Aunt Meredith were there... one to release her, one to catch her and another to take pictures every once in a while.

Jules hated the pink bracelet band that we had to wear. She tried to bite it and tear it off the whole time.

We totally recommend the splash park to toddlers and their parents!

Love ya Gramps!

Since I had to close on Saturday, Sunday and Monday... we celebrated Father's Day with a somewhat patient Gramps Tuesday evening. We (of course) went to his favorite, Golden Corral. Jules ate well... tasting everything off of everybody's plate. She really made herself at home.
Yes, the wagon is behind her. We walked to Golden Corral from our house. It was a 10 minute walk and a really nice night out after the afternoon rain.

This is Gramps with his new World's Greatest Grandpa cap. (Gotta cover the bald spot!)

Here are Jules and Gramps at the end of the meal. Aunt Meredy was very surprised that Jules now says "CHEESE!" and smiles for the camera.

Like the spike? We tried to put it in a ponytail holder... No luck.

Farewell!

Since my brother-in-laws moved in this past November, we've been trying to find a home for Cory's dog, Maggie. We've had a couple of takers that fell through. She really is a sweet dog. We just have too many creatures (human, feline AND canine) in our house as it is.
My father-in-law came by today to help fix Cory's car and surprised us by taking Maggie out to Bowie to a friend of Memaw's! She lives on the lake out there and needed a large, loving lapdog to replace her recently lost dog.

So... although I know Jules is going to miss her...

she's going to a place where she will be appreciated and loved.

We must remember to tell her new owner to keep her trash away from this curious and perpetually hungry pet.

Father's Day

Juliana and Jeff had a great father's day.
Everybody slept in, which in itself is awesome!
I made breakfast and everybody seemed to enjoy it.

Then we got ready for church and had a fun time there.

We think Jules was teething, because she had a rough afternoon. She woke up upset between her three hours of afternoon naps. But after that, Jeff tells me she was great! I had to work last night, so Jeff took her swimming and then on a long wagon ride to Target.
They had a fun time swimming. She jumped off the steps to him and when he showed her that he could go under water, she stuck her face in. I can't wait to see that one in person!

The Girls Weekend

Jeff's best friend is getting married in August. Jeff's the best man and I'm a bride's maid. There was a bridal shower in Austin this weekend to honor the bride, so Jules and I took the opportunity to have a girls weekend. We even convinced Aunt Meredy to go with us!

the beautiful bride

This picture doesn't do Juliana's cute dress justice:

This is the order of events for the weekend:
Saturday morning... get up, pack, drive to Austin
Saturday... stop quickly at Round Rock Outlets
Saturday afternoon... bridal shower. (A very tired Jules was really well behaved!)
Saturday evening... shopping at San Marcos outlets

Sunday morning... great breakfast at La Madeleine
Sunday mid morning... shopping at Round Rock outlets
Sunday afternoon... drive home
Sunday evening... Jules spent some time with Grammy and Gramps and Mommy went to book club!

Daddy picked her up after he finished his round of golf to get some time with the girl before bedtime. I'll have to take pictures later, but Grammy and Gramps bought Jules a sand box for at their house. Also, Gramps insisted she needed a bat and ball to get her started, so I picked up a sponge bat and ball at the outlets. Apparently, she found them hilarious!

Here are some pictures of Jules giving Elmo and Zoe a ride at the Round Rock Outlet. She loved it...

In this one, she is giving Elmo a hug before she got out of the car.

Accomplishment

So, those of you know me well know that two of Jeff's brothers live with us. They're 19 and 17 years old. The 17 year old had trouble getting to school during his senior year, so by the time he came to live with us in November, he was in alternative school. This is a SUPER SMART kid... so attendance was his major malfunction.

Well, Thursday evening, we had the pleasure of attending his high school graduation. Let me tell you, I was fighting tears much of the evening. It feels like such an accomplishment. He did it... but we were the ones who supported him getting there. Jeff was actually amazing in his support and encouragement. He's a great dad... to his daughter and his brothers.
